What is Abstract Art?

Abstract art is a form of art that uses the visual language of color, form, and line. This visual language enables the piece to stand apart from the visual references of the world. Artists create abstract art to challenge the perception of reality. Various techniques are used to create this type of artwork. Some of the most famous abstract artists include Wassily Kandinsky, Joan Miro, and the Abstract Expressionists.

Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky’s abstract paintings are bold, beautiful, and sure to spark conversation. They can be hung in any room and will create a statement. Whether you want to update your living room, bedroom, or office, you’re sure to find something you love in these works.

Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian artist who worked in the field of abstract art. He was a cultural activist and helped reform art education in his native Russia. He also served as the director of the Moscow Museum of Pictorial Culture. He was a member of the Russian Academy of Artistic Sciences.

Abstract art often touches on heavy topics like destruction and resurrection, using haphazard colors and shapes. Some historians have suggested that these themes are related to biblical ideas like The Garden of Eden and Judgement Day. These works often depict the eternal struggle between good and evil.

Cubism

Cubism is a modern style of art that originated in France and spread throughout Europe. Developed by painters Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, it became one of the most influential trends of the twentieth century. The Cubists aimed to break down representational traditions and create an alternative way to see the world. They used multiple vantage points to break up images and show multiple perspectives of the same object. They also introduced collage to painting.

Cubist paintings were often representations of real objects, people, and places, but they reconstructed space by presenting many parts at once. This allowed the Cubists to reconstruct the concept of’relativity’ by showing the back, side, and other details.

Abstract Expressionists

The Abstract Expressionists were a group of artists who made use of the medium of painting to express their feelings. Their works were influenced by Surrealism, but they were not overly impressed by the overt Freudian symbolism that had dominated the work of the European Surrealists. Instead, they were moved by concepts of primitivism, mythology, and spirituality. In addition, Abstract Expressionists believed that a piece of art is not a mere reproduction of a photograph; it was a form of self-creation and a declaration of freedom. Many of their works were completed without any preparatory sketches.

The Abstract Expressionist movement originated in New York City in the 1940s and 1950s. Artists were interested in conveying a deep emotion by using broad, gestural movements, and controlled applications of paint. The aim was not to depict recognizable images, but rather to create an atmosphere in which the viewer could understand what the work is about. Some Abstract Expressionists were figurative painters and painted realistic scenes and natural scenes, including landscapes and cities.Learn more about schilderij here.

Joan Miro

Joan Miro’s art is a mix of figurative and abstract styles. Her lust for biomorphic forms and childlike forms was evident in her work. She influenced generations of artists through her experimental approach to art and her desire to challenge conventions. Her work is incredibly diverse and complex.

In addition to painting, Miro also worked in sculpture. While her early works were small ceramics, she soon moved on to large-scale bronze sculptures. In 1947, she visited the United States and participated in the International Surrealist Exhibition in New York. Later, she created a large mural for the Terrace Hilton Hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Born in Catalonia, Spain, Joan Miro first became interested in art at an early age. He took up art classes at age seven. At age 17, he became seriously ill with typhus and returned to his parents’ country estate in Catalonia. During this time, he also developed a strong emotional attachment to Spain. His work was constantly inspired by the Spanish landscape.
